As mentioned before, the SotG post will only go up now when we have things to say. And boy do we definitely have some things to say this time around!

As always, we appreciate the feedback received from players and hope to adjust things accordingly to make the game a smoother, stress-free experience for all. We're here for fun and we want to make that as easy to achieve as possible!

This post will highlight the changes we made, updates planned, housekeeping items, and the most recent list of claims, check-in warnings, and drops.

So, without further ado...

PLOT SUMMARY

In the last few months (and ones coming up), we've been laying the framework for a larger metaplot of the game as a whole. To make sure that no one is lost, regardless of what characters may know or not in game, we're going to give a small summary of the findings from the last couple of investigation events and how it ties into things overall.

As you know, characters were ferried to New Svihelen and asked to investigate a strange cult, substances, and other happenings. So, what did they find out?

Who is Akkelion? What happened to him?

⁂ Akkelion was Dimitri's husband. They had met at the opera where Akkelion performed, Dimitri having been a quiet but consistent fan of his. They hit things off and caused quite a stir as Greater Dragons having relationships with Lessers was still a bit frowned on at the time.

⁂ Dimitri thought Akkelion had perished in the calamity, but his fate had been much, much worse. He was discovered and kept sedated by a cult - the original Brotherhood of the Sky - that exsanguinated him to a state of minimal function, creating products from his potent blood. Upon his final discovery, his mind was broken and he forced the heroes hands to end his life.

What is the Brotherhood of the Sky?

⁂ It is a cult of draconian worshipers that is on the rise again coinciding with the appearance of offworlders. The original members self-immolated at their end decades ago but their beliefs held fast in a minority of people to this day and age.

⁂ They believe ultimately in the supremacy of Greater Dragons and the power their blood can grant despite its addictive properties. While they don't have direct access anymore to dragon blood, they have made a less potent, diluted substance with what they had in stores leftover from the original members.

⁂ However, there are now two sects of the current iteration of this cult. The first is people who believe offworlders will be the next coming of dragons as shown by the bond of their souls. The second though rejects offworlders as dragonbonded; they do not believe them worthy of the souls that have chosen them.

⁂ In the background, players may have their characters receive strange, mysterious offerings or - on the other side -vague, anonymous threats left at their homes or place of business. Additionally, after the events in October characters are understandably a bit more wary and might notice certain 'regulars' sometimes loitering around Town and seemingly watching dragonbonded closely.

The Main Suspect(s) in New Svihelen?

⁂ Offworlders investigation turned up... nothing actually related to The Brotherhood of the Sky. At least, not directly!

⁂ Dennis, a shrewd half-elf businessman who recently took up in the city and that's when the distribution of a new, quite addictive substance very similar to the one that the Brotherhood of the Sky once distributed. This new mixture however seems far more potent than previously seen in this age.

⁂ Dennis was actually trying to get into the good graces of the local elf mafia by showing his 'worth' in distributing this drug. He didn't know that they - and the source of this substance - were actually connected of the Brotherhood of the Sky. He was simply trying to make a quick buck and gain some notoriety in the process.

Investigation Results & Conclusion!!!

⁂ With new information unearthed and leads to now follow, Dennis the dealer and the rest of the elf gang members are rounded up and brought in for interrogation by the city-state. If offworlders are to ask about what authorities found though, they'll be told it's strictly confidential.

⁂ Naturally, we expect and encourage some people to dig deeper. If your character presses the importance of knowing after helping with the investigation, well... Chief Inspector Vrock Brusseau might let it slip that they don't know because the culprits mysteriously vanished. This is a new mystery in and of itself, it appears! The questions never end!

⁂ Seemingly overnight, Dennis and the rest of the people brought in to question just disappeared into thin air! Whether a break-out or someone else's intervention, they aren't sure and are trying to keep this information under wraps. (You won't tell anyone else, right?)

So... what does this all mean?

In combination with the Vorrun Investigations discovery, this event was meant to provide information that will add context and lead into a large metaplot reveal... soon!

While we originally had planned for it to be on the one-year anniversary of the game, we're not quite ready yet! Rest assured though: this is going somewhere and we hope players have enjoyed and continue to enjoy the journey there.

ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, & REMINDERS

While we will mention updates as well on our mod plurk and Discord server, we're repeating them here for folks who don't have one.

⁂ The quest board is being retired. While we originally intended for it to be something players used to fill in time between quarterly events, we noticed a decline in use of it to the point it feels redundant.

Rather than continue trying to work it into the game mechanics, we are letting it rest... for now! If interest returns, we'll be happy to revisit this part of the game. If not, it is still there to use as you wish for ideas but we will no longer be tracking or updating it from this point on.

⁂ The Test Drive Meme is now live! This one is a bit special for the year anniversary of the game and spooky nature of the season! We hope you enjoy!

⁂ A reminder that reputation has been moved to the locations page! See what different places dragonbonded know of and how they feel so far about them being here. These will change over time and through character action, so as always please let us know what you and yours are up to so we can adjust accordingly!

⁂ Additionally on the locations page, people can now submit new locations they'd like to see added. Whether this be through gaining a business license, the summoning circle pulling them in, or direct player changes to the setting (like the lake), players are encouraged to let us know about what has been added to the world so it can be reflected on this page appropriately.

⁂ The calendar has been updated for October! Previous months will be in headers on the page as a 'timeline' of sorts for players to look back on or refresh themselves about happenings in-game. Make sure to utilize this to know what the weather is like or any mini-events that might be coming up!
